Position Summary:
Job Title: Restaurant Training General Manager/Assistant General Manager
Location: Washington, D.C.
The Assistant General Manager is a key member of the leadership team, responsible for supporting all aspects of restaurant operations. You will be a General Manager in Training. This role focuses on guest satisfaction, team development, sales growth, financial performance, and maintaining the highest standards of service and hospitality. The ideal candidate is a natural leader who can inspire teams, hold people accountable, and create memorable experiences for guests while helping drive profitability and operational excellence.

- Lead, coach, and mentor front-of-house managers and hourly team members.
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and train new employees.
- Conduct performance reviews and ongoing coaching sessions.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
- Ensure all team members embody the company hospitality standards.
- Actively engage with guests and build relationships with regulars.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Ensure every guest receives exceptional hospitality.
- Monitor online reviews and guest feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations.
- Manage daily opening, shift management, and closing procedures.
- Drive execution of service standards and operational systems. Financial Performance
- Support achievement of sales, labor, and profitability targets.
- Manage scheduling to optimize labor efficiency.
- Assist with inventory controls and cost management.
- Analyze key performance indicators and implement action plans.
Community & Sales Growth
- Build relationships with local businesses, hotels, concierges, residential buildings, and community organizations.
- Support private dining, corporate events, and promotional initiatives.
- Assist in executing local marketing strategies and community outreach programs.
What We're Looking For:
- 4+ years of restaurant management experience.
- Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
- Strong knowledge of food, beverage, wine, and hospitality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience managing labor, scheduling, and financial performance.
- High energy, positive attitude, and strong attention to detail.
- ServSafe Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Assistant General Manager or General Manager experience in a high-volume restaurant.
- Experience with corporate dining, private events, and hospitality sales.
- Wine, cocktail, and beverage knowledge.
- Experience with POS systems and restaurant management software; POSI Touch and CrunchTime is a bonus.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary: $70,000 - $90,000+ annually (based on experience)
- Performance-based bonus opportunities up to 10% of salary, paid at completion of y/e financials.
